MOREBATH will finish in third place in Division One of the West Somerset Cricket League after beating Over Stowey away by 97 runs in their last match of the season.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Morebath scored 213 all out with opener Daniel Coles their leading batter with 60, while Stephen Kelland knocked 39 and Paul Crittenden 22. Kieran Barrow took 4-48 and Liam Barrow 3-39.

Stowey never recovered from a poor start and were bowled out for 116 in 22.5 overs with Issac Ramsey hitting 26 and Simon Burland 20. Daniel Hurley took 3-28 and Robert Chiplin 3-33.

Morebath collected a maximum 35 points from their victory which enabled them to finish four points ahead of last season’s champions Watchet.

In Division Three, Ashbrittle made sure of finishing runners-up after beating Stowey’s second string by eight wickets. Stowey, who won the toss and decided to bat first, were bowled out for 98 with C Woodley and L Bond both scoring 27, while L Westcott took 4-29, F Hill 2-14 and H Norman 2-3.

Opener R Hill steered Ashbrittle to a comfortable win with 60 not out while Westcott was 20 not out.

Fourth division champions Stogumber and runners-up Morebath both won their last matches of the season.

Stogumber were 144-run winners against Spaxton who were shot out for 107 when chasing the visitors score of 241. Sam Batten (40), Tom Foley (38) and Lu Laage (36) were Stogumber’s top batters while Mark Jones took 5-39. Alex Hendy scored a run a ball 64 for Spaxton while J Jenkins took 4-16.
