ROCKWELL Green Shortmat Bowls Club entertained Corfe for a four-mat friendly played over 10 ends - with the home side triumphing 52-13.

As is usual in these games, both sides knew each other well, so a lot of chat was the order of the day. When things did get underway Dave, Cass & Dennis were first up to play Alan G, Sheila & June. It was very tight up to the 7th end at 5 all but the Green trio managed to pull away over the next 2 ends to lead by 9-5. Although the Corfe trio did gain 2 shots on the last end it was a Green victory by 9-7.

Following on, Graham, Mick B & Mike R entertained Mike P, Joan & Michael. The Green were just holding sway by 1 shot until the 7th end at 5-4, but then pulled out all the stops over the next 3 ends to gain a flattering 14-4 win.

A short break for tea/coffee kindly provided by Cass was enjoyed by the players, with the Green holding a 23-11 advantage. As is normal with home matches the Green introduced a change of players for the 2nd half.

So Syd, John S & Mike R were pitted against Alan G, Sheila & Alan F. The home trio took charge of the game, only allowing the visitors to score on 2 ends to come away with an 11-2 victory.

Last to play, Bill, Reg & John Y, were in unforgiving mood against Derrick, Joan & Michael H, taking all 10 ends but, true to say, the Corfe trio had no luck and another time could easily have won. Lady luck just shone on the Green trio who could not put a foot wrong thus taking an overwhelming, crushing 18-0 win over the unlucky Corfe trio.

A very pleasant afternoon was spent with players just enjoying playing the game.
