THE Christmas Quiz at Wellington Bowling Club was a great success. A very pleasant evening was enjoyed by more than fifty members and guests who raised £403 for the president's charity, the Beacon Centre, Taunton.

The event, which was organised by Ian and Kitty Hollingsworth, involved eight quiz rounds, all with a Christmas theme. The quizzes were split into two sessions with four in each, separated by the drawing of the Charity Christmas Raffle.

There was also a ‘Charity Gamble’, which was a fun game where everyone had to guess whether a coin would fall on heads or tails, by placing hands on heads or hands on ‘tails’. All those who guessed correctly remained standing and those who got it wrong had to sit down.

This went on until there was only one left standing. The eventual winner, a guest of one of the teams, was presented with a prize and much applause from all those sitting down.

The Christmas Raffle was organised by Angie Moore and Debbie Beasley. Members had been able to buy tickets at the club for several weeks and during that time scores of items were donated to make up no less than 22 fabulous prizes. Everyone was given a ticket with a number on it.

The numbers machine was then made to spin until a winning number appeared on the screen. The lucky person who had that number was then given another ticket with a different number on it which told them which prize they had won. Angie and Debbie presented the prizes to the lucky winners. Those not in attendance were notified afterwards.

The club wishes to thank everyone involved, including those who organised the event, kindly donated prizes, helped out generally or simply had fun, and parted with their cash for a worthwhile charity!
