THE ladies from Wellington Bowling Club have won a closely fought match against three teams of ladies from North Petherton.
In the first of the three games, Janet Lovell, Lisa Dart and Gill Groves were leading 8 -7 after ten ends but their opponents were bowling well and overtook to pinch it 19 – 16.
Wendy Scott, June Anderson and Chrissie Willcocks were 8 – 16 down after 15 ends. They started to catch up but it was too little too late and North Petherton won it by two shots 18 – 16.
Debbie Lane, Pauline Wadham and Marguerite Nichols knew that they would have to do well if they were to win it overall.
After seven ends the sides were level on six shots apiece but the Wellington ladies bowled exceptionally well to win it 23 – 13.
Their success gave Wellington an overall victory by 55 shots to 50.
