THE ladies from Wellington Bowling Club played their first away match of the season against Taunton Deane - and it proved a thriller.

It was a very close and competitive game eventually won by the Taunton club by just one shot - 51 – 50.

Wendy Scott, Janet Moore and Shirley Samuel were level with the Taunton trio on seven shots apiece at the halfway point but the home team picked up the pace in the second half to win comfortably 22 – 11.

Pauline Wadham, Diana Dagg and Lynda Manning set off at great pace and their opponents weren't able to catch them. The Wellington side won in style 27 shots to 12.

Debbie Lane, Angela Moore and Gill Groves were playing catch-up in their game but they bowled well and only lost by 5 shots, 17 – 12.

The Taunton Deane ladies were pleased with their victory and enjoyed playing against their friendly opponents from Wellington.
