WJ South West Ltd, a road and highway safety and construction company based at Westpark, are sponsoring the shirts for Wellington Bowling Club’s men’s and ladies teams.

Kirstie Manning, Contract Manager with the company, has presented the shirts to president Mike Groves.

Meanwhile, Wellington men’s A team enjoyed a friendly away match against North Petherton. It was the first time the team had come up against such strong opposition this season.

Mike Copping, Roger Murphy, Nick Channon and skip Mike Groves could not get going to begin with. After five ends they were 6–1 down.

However they picked up a 5 in the sixth end, followed by another 5 in the seventh and then just to add insult to injury they took 3 more shots in the next.

The North Petherton four did all they could but the Wellingtonians were cruising and won all the next ends bar two to sweep to victory 34-8.

On rink 2, North Petherton did a lot better. They set off at pace and Wellington's Henry Richbell, Paul Kelly, Jay Merrell and skip Phil Ellis found themselves 16–0 down after eight ends. They began to catch up and after seventeen ends they were only four shots behind but it was too late by then and they lost 23 - 14.

On the last rink, Darren Sparks, Bill Warnett, Graham Brown and skip Tony Gibson had to make sure they did well if they were to win the match overall. After a fairly even start, the North Petherton side were looking good and by the thirteenth led 11–5.

The Wellington quartet fought back hard and with one end to play they were 16–17 down but they pinched one in the last to level the scores at 17–17.

The draw on that rink gave Wellington an overall victory by 65 shots to 48.
