BROOKE Aspin’s hopes of playing for England Lionesses’ Under 23s later this week have been dashed after she was stretchered off in Bristol City’s home game against Manchester United in a Women’s Super League match..

Brooke, a former student at Court Fields School, left Ashton Gate yesterday on crutches and is undergoing a scan today.

Brooke suffered a knee injury midway through the first half of the game which attracted a record crowd of more than 14,000 for a women’s match at Ashton Gate. City lost 2-0, the first goal being a wicked deflection.

Brooke only learned last week that she had been selected for the England Under 23 squad for two international matches later this week.

It is a big blow to young Brooke who is ‘on loan’ to City before she joins champions Chelseas next season.
