WELLINGTON have won the title in Division Two of the Under 12 section in the Taunton & District Youth Football League.

They made sure of finishing top after beating third-placed Huish Tigers 1-0 away.

It was a splendid victory for Wellington who have lost twice to Tigers in the league this season. Tigers were still in with a chance of winning the championship themselves if they had beaten Wellington.

The only goal of an exciting game was netted by Jack Bates in the 53rd minute.

"It was a very close game and they missed a penalty in the first half," said manager Scott Bates. "It has been a fantastic season. I could not wish for a better bunch of lads.

"They knew what they had to do last Saturday - and they went out there and achieved it."

Wellington play their last match of the season at home to Bridgwater Wolves tomorrow (Sat, 10.30p.m.).
