ODDS AND ENDS produced the shock of the past week by beating highflyers Mowers in Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Chris Bullock Championship.

The division’s bottom side stunned Mowers with a nine-pin victory at the Football Club with Rob Stanyard top scoring with a splendid 61. Martin Studley was Mowers’ top skittler with 60. Scores: Mowers 357, Odds and Ends 366.

Ex-Servicemen 406, Home Guard IV 337: Ex-Servicemen maintained their 100 per cent record and continued their relentless march at the top. Dave Gardiner knocked 62 at the Cottage as the leaders recorded their 15th win on the bounce. Mark Salter scored 48 for the losers.

Foresters 396, King Pins 395: The closest game of the night was at the White Horse where Foresters pipped King Pins by one pin with Alan Lockyer’s superb 62 proving crucial for the home side. However John Norman was top of the alley for the visitors with a splendid 68.

Nynehead Club 364, Scuppas 407: Scupppas produced one of their best displays with Adrian Newstead leading the charge with a fine 67. Lewis Sparks scored 52 for the Club.

Outsiders 358, Here 4 the Beer 336: Martin Sharland steered Outsiders to victory with a hand of 51 as the home side built up a strong total. Fin Jennings was top scorer of the night with a splendid 60, but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

All Stars 357, WRFC 378: The rugby boys got back to winning ways with a victory over All Stars at the Vic. Jamie Milton led the scoring for the home side with 53, while Dave Pow (55) guided WRFC to a 21-pin win.

Meanwhile, there is no stopping Relyon who moved clear at the top of the Gerald Thorne Championship with a 31-pin success against Club Rockers at the Conservative Club. Sean Buttle led the way for the Bedders with a classy 57 while Matty Gibbons was tops for the Rockers with 52. Relyon 381, Club Rockers 350.

Bell Green 356, Shooters 394: Shooters piled on the misery for the beaten Ken Bright Cup finalists by beating their title-chasing rivals by 38 pins, leaving the Bee-Gees two points behind Relyon. Will Essex led the scoring for Bell Green with 55, but Nathan Harcombe hit 59 as Shooters won convincingly.

Holywell Lake 381, OBA 364: Holywell Lake kept up the pressure at the top with a 17-pin win with Carl Wood scoring an excellent 62. OBA’s leading skittler was Denver Clarke with 51.

Oaks 356, Cottage Pies 360: The Pies kept in touch with the leaders after beating Oaks in a close match by four pins. Jordan Hastlehurst (52) was Oaks’ top skittler while Ricky Marke and Sam Vile chipped in with vital 49s for the visitors.

Rebels 334, Queens Legs 352: Queens stretched their unbeaten run to nine games with Adam Nicholls scoring 51 while John Sellick’s 46 was the best return for the home side.

Reservists 355, Hot Shots 355: Reservists and Hot Shots could not be split at the Institute following a thrilling game. Reservists’ skipper Darren Sparks was the standout performer with a fine 51, while Gary Pepper matched that effort for Hot Shots.

Report Centre A 342, Fireguard A 408: Olly Hayes (64) inspired Fireguard A to a 400-plus score and a 66-pin victory while John Cottrell and Pat Bright both hit 48s for the losers.
