MINEHEAD remain 106 points clear of the field in the third division of the West Somerset Cricket League after winning by two wickets in a high-scoring match away to Ashbrittle.

The home side, put into bat, scored 250-7 with Rob Hill dominating the innings with a knock of 136, which included 24 fours. Minehead knocked off the runs in 36.4 overs.

In the only other match played in the division, Wiveliscombe went down by 127 runs at home to fourth-placed Carhampton.

Opting to bat first, Carhampton scored 259 all out with opener Sam Price scoring 121 with 21 fours and two sixes. Wiveliscombe were all out for 132 in 31.2 overs with Chris Clements taking 3-5 and L Sparks 2-25.

Unfortunately, Fitzhead were unable to fulfil their fixture away to Buckland St Mary and forfeited the points while Over Stowey were not able to field a side at Stoodleigh.

Morebath, top of the fourth division, slumped to an eight-wicket loss at Stoke St Mary after being bowled out for 187 with Harry Scatchard scoring 50 and Peter Grabham 41 not out. Dan Tier took 4-74 and Scott Broadhurst 2-21.

Thomas Sweet (62) and Adrian Sproston (69) were not out as Stoke reached their target in just over 30 overs.

Roadwater also went down by eight wickets at Brompton Ralph after slumping to 144 all out with Darren Towells taking 3-8. Brompton knocked off the runs in 23.1 overs.
