CROWCOMBE have finished runners-up in the first division of the West Somerset Cricket League after a thrilling one-wicket home victory against Bagborough.

Put into bat after losing the toss, Bagborough scored 147 all out in 27 overs with Tom Eve top scoring with a run-a-ball 73, with ten fours and two sixes.

Jake Cornish was Crowcombe’s leading wicket-taker with 4-22, while Jalees Khattak took 3-41 and Rob White 2-39.

Despite an opening stand of 70, Crowcombe also found it tough scoring runs with Josh Newman steering them to an exciting victory with 46 while fellow opener Will Ruell scored 21. Henry Stirzaker took 4-44, Dan Raffill 3-28 and Blake Jones 2-20.

Victory enabled Crowcombe to finish with 379 points in second place, 53 points behind new champions Ashbrittle.

Second division winners Stogumber also ended with a win - their eighth of the season - by beating Cutcombe by six wickets. Cutcombe were bowled out for 96, despite 66 not out by opener Mark Matravers. No other batter made double figures against the bowling of Justin Hayward who took 5-20 and Lu Laage (3-10). Gareth Waldeck hit 30 as Stogumber reached their target inside 20 overs.

Stoke St Mary finished runners-up despite losing by six wickets against Lydeard St Lawrence who finished 33 points behind their rivals in third place.

Third division champions Minehead won their 13th game of the season by beating Wiveliscombe by 32 runs.
