MANAGERLESS Wellington will be looking to end their miserable season in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western Football League when they play their first home game - against Bovey Tracey on Saturday, September 5 (3p.m.).

Despite losing 10-0 away to Wells City last Saturday, the same management team (Mike Hawes, Georgia Purdey and Joe Conway, supported by team captain Josh Baker) will be in place. The club say this is short-term and are still working towards a long-term solution.

But clearly these are the most difficult times the club has experienced in living memory - and the whole structure of first team football will have to be looked at. Unless something drastically changes, they are going to be relegated from the Premier Division.

Wellington's young and inexperienced side have so far lost all five of their league matches and suffered defeats in both the FA Cup and FA Vase - all away from home.

The club is still reeling from the loss of chairman Mike Hall who had been running the side until he surprisingly quit last month because he could 'no longer give the role the time, energy and commitment it deserves.' Since then Wellington have had games at Portishead and Torpoint postponed.

Hall had been chairman for 14 years and has not yet been replaced. There is also no news from the club in regard to appointing a manager.

Wellington's poor start to the season sees them bottom of the premier division with no points from their five games - with a goals deficit of -27.

Bovey Tracey will be looking to complete the double over Wellington, having beaten them 4-2 at home on the opening day of the season.

Wellington will also be in action at The Carly Press Ground next Wednesday when they play Buckland Athletic who hammered them 10-1 at home early last month (7.45p.m.).
