WELLINGTON A get their season underway with a home game against Wembdon Reserves in the first division of the Centregreat Taunton & District Saturday Football League tomorrow (Sept 5).

The game will be played on the all-weather pitch at Court Fields School and will start at 2p.m.

Wellington were relegated at the end of last season when they finished second from bottom in the Premier Division, winning only two of their 16 matches.

Teams in the first division are: Bridgwater & Albion, Bridgwater Sports, Dulverton Town, Dunwear United Reserves, Galmington Reserves, Nether Stowey Reserves, North Curry, Norton Fitzwarren, Old Inn 98, Wellington A, Wembdon Reserves.

Saturday’s fixtures: Bridgwater Sports v Dunwear United Reserves, North Curry v Nether Stowey Reserves, Norton Fitzwarren v Old Inn 98, Wellington A v Wembdon Reserves, Bridgwater & Albion v Galmington Reserves.

Wellington Reserves are back in action after a fortnight’s break when they play away to Upottery in the Premier Division of the Stitch2Print Devon and Exeter League.

The Reserves made a flying start to their season two weeks ago by beating Crediton United Reserves 4-0 away.

Wellington, whose side included six players who had played first team football this season, won with goals by Sam Bryant, Alfie Barratt, Connor Pengelly and Ollie Nott, who netted from the penalty spot.

Their opponents on Saturday Upottery are one of three teams who have won their opening two matches, the others being Colyton and Sidmouth Town Reserves.

Fixtures: Beer Albion v East Budleigh, Lyme Regis v Westexe Park Rangers, South Zeal United v Feniton, St Martins v Sidmouth Town Reserves, Upottery v Wellington Reserves.

Wellington Wildcats also kick off the new season with a home game against Ilminster Town Reserves in the first division of the Somerset Women’s League on Sunday, with a 2p.m. start.

Wildcats finished sixth last season while Ilminster were promoted from Division Two.
