WELLINGTON Rugby Club have announced a number of new signings for the new season.
They include: Jack Macadam, Jamie Cassidy, Mike Fulwell, Josh Sims, Ky Burgress, Joe Reid, Charlie Butler, Jack Betson, Kewa Ademuyiwa, Oliver Kollard, Etienne Siropt, Jacob Davenport, Jacob Mee, Eusebe Duperrier, Dylan Grogan.
And the club’s director of rugby Allyn Chetland said: “We are very hopeful that shortly we will be able to announce some more new players alongside some returning old faces as the season start date approaches.
“New and players returning to the game are always welcome as last season proved you can never have enough players.
“One person who felt the pain of last season more than most was Brad Field who, at the end of last season, decided to step down from the role as club coach to concentrate on developing his business.
“It was a season of massive frustration for Brad who put his heart and soul into trying to take the squad forward. An injury to his shoulder early on in the season prevented Brad from dictating plays on the field. Brads commitment to the club cannot be questioned; he is without doubt a proud Red & Black player through and through.
“From all at WRFC we would like to say a massive thank you to Brad for everything he did in what was a very difficult season.
“However, it’s not all sad news; a major plus point for WRFC is Brad isn’t going anywhere; we will still see him around the clubhouse and the field of play. Following successful surgery on his injured shoulder Brad is keen to wear the R&B shirt again this season.”
Ollie Price will captain the first team with Matt Huggett as second team skipper. The senior coaching team will consist of Allyn Chetland, Simon Morrell (new senior coach) and Joe Snow (new senior player-coach).
