WELLINGTON side Moortown St Malachy’s maintained their 100 per cent start to the season with a 4-2 home win over previously unbeaten AFC Dunster in the second division of the Somerset Sunday Football League.

It was their fourth successive win and they top the table by three points from Butlins, who are also unbeaten, and Nether Stowey.

Moortown made a great start by scoring twice in the opening ten minutes. Jack Bryant put Moortown ahead in the fifth minute after Ben Evett had taken the ball around three defenders before Evett netted, following up an effort by Bryant which hit a post.

Tom Davies picked up a yellow card before Dunster hit back with two goals to level the scores at 2-2.

However, Moortown regained the lead on 40 minutes when Bryant scored his second after an assist by Evett.

And the Wellington side made sure of all three points when Ollie Ackland ended a good run by slotting home after an assist by Davies.

Butlins made it three wins from three matches when they beat Hinton St George 2-1 at home while Cotford Rovers dropped their first points of the season when they drew 1-1 at home against Northwalls United.

Meanwhile, Moortown have a blank Sunday before they play at home to Cotford Rovers in a league match on Sunday, October 4. Rovers are also unbeaten, having won two and drawn one of their opening three fixtures.
