WIVELISCOMBE and Wellington play each other in a rugby friendly at The Rec on Saturday, September 19 (3p.m.).

The sides only play each other competitively on Boxing Days, with the venue this year being at The Athletic Ground.

Wiveliscombe will be playing in Regional Two South West this season following promotion while Wellington will be competing in Counties One Western North after being relegated.

Wellington also have a new senior coach this season with Simon Morrell having taken over from Bradley Field who stepped down at the end of last winter.

Wellington have also announced Joe Snow has joined them as senior backs player-coach ‘working closely alongside Simon.’

It will be Wiveliscombe and Wellington’s last pre-season warm-up game before their league matches begin on Saturday, September 26, the season having been delayed by the RFU.

Meanwhile, Wellington’s footballers play their fourth successive home game in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League when they face highflyers Bridgwater United on Saturday, September 19 (3p.m.).

Wellington are bottom of the table, having suffered some heavy losses, but have been competitive in their last two home matches (3-1 against Buckland Athletic, and 3-0 against Liskeard Athletic).

Wellington Reserves will be looking to end a run of two successive defeats when they play St Martins away in the Premier Division of the Stitch2Print Devon and Exeter League.

Wellington are lying tenth in the table, with three points from their opening three matches, while St Martins are one place below them with two draws from three fixtures.

Wellington Wildcats play only their second match of the season in Division One of the Somerset Women’s League when they meet Pen Mill Ladies at home on Sunday (2p.m.).

Wildcats lost 2-0 at home to Ilminster Town Ladies a fortnight ago while Pen Mill won 2-0 at home to Paulton Rovers Ladies Reserves.
