WELLINGTON Football Club are unlikely to be appointing a new chairman or first team manager in the near future.

A club spokesperson said this week: " “Our next management committee meeting is scheduled for the beginning of October and we’ll be reviewing our current situation, both on and off the pitch.

“In the meantime, we’d like to place on record our sincere thanks to the interim management team of Joe Conway, Mike Hawes and Georgia Purdy - along with captain Josh Baker - who are working tirelessly to try and turn things around.

“We also really appreciate everyone else who has rallied round to help during the current challenging times for the first team.

"We are still looking at appoint a permanent manager or coach. "Anyone interested in discussing the position should email [email protected].

“Pending the appointment of a new chairman, Graham Aspin and Ken Bird continue to oversee club affairs, supported by the other management committee members.”

Wellington’s beleaguered first team have been without a manager since Tornado Bello stepped down towards the end of July - after less than a month in charge.

Bello was appointed to replace Richard Cherry who left at the end of last season after three years in charge of the Jewson Western League club. Between then and the start of the season, Wellington have lost almost the entire first team squad with only Josh Baker remaining and captaining the team.

First team duties were taken over by chairman Mike Hall but he, too, resigned last month saying he could no longer give the role ’the time, energy and commitment it deserves.”

“I believe the club deserves a chairman who has the capacity and energy to give it the attention it needs.”

The side has since been run by the interim management team of Joe Conway, Mike Hawes and Georgia Purdy.
