WELLINGTON, whose squad included six Under 18s, endured another difficult evening as they went down 6-0 away to Tavistock in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western Football League on Tuesday night.
It was their fourth match in 11 days – all against sides in the top six of the division.
After Ben Evett had been denied by the home keeper, the hosts broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute when Rhys Lindsell scored from close range at the back post.
Wellington responded positively and almost found an equaliser shortly afterwards. Evett struck a left-footed effort, only for the keeper to produce an excellent save.
Tavistock doubled their advantage in the 46th minute when Tallan Burns struck from distance, sending his effort past Wellington keeper Luke Vernon.
Tavistock extended their lead five minutes later as Vernon saved but the loose ball fell to Kenley Dyson and he curled his effort in off the right-hand post.
The hosts added a fourth in the 59th minute. A long ball found Luke Forward, who waited for Vernon to commit himself before calmly slotting home.
Wellington’s task became even more difficult in the 71st minute when Evett received a second yellow card, leaving the visitors to complete the remainder of the match with ten men.
The home side made it 5–0 nine minutes from time when Forward capitalised on a misplaced Wellington pass around 30 yards from goal.
They completed the scoring in the 89th minute with substitute Oliver Cleeve adding a sixth to round off a convincing victory.
