WELLINGTON’S football manager Tim Legg remained upbeat over the weekend despite his side suffering yet another loss in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League, writes Barry Knott.

Wellington went down 3-1 at home to Westbury United on Saturday which leaves Legg still without a victory since he took charge of the side in October.

“We had plenty of possession but, unfortunately, we gave away two needless penalties – one in each half,” said Legg. “We managed to get back in the game with a goal but then got caught on the break following a corner.

“We were competitive but at the moment we’re making far too many mistakes. If we can learn from these mistakes then, hopefully results will improve.

“At the moment it is part of the process of finding a winning combination.”

Wellington, who were due to play a re-arranged league game at Bridport last night, will be on their travels again on Saturday when they play Chipping Sodbury. Harry Hamblin may miss this game through injury.

Wellington Reserves, whose match at Crediton over the weekend was called off because of the poor state of the pitch, are home to Alphington Reserves in the first division of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday while Hemyock are away to Winkleigh in the third division.

Wellington A, who are back on top of Division Two in the Invest Southwest Taunton Saturday League following their 6-3 win over White Eagles, are home to title challengers Staplegrove Crusaders while Wellington side Moortown are home to Hamilton in the first division of the Keyline Somerset and District Sunday League.
