WELLINGTON Wildcats Under 11s played Street and what a determined performance it was from the team. Everyone showed fantastic commitment, teamwork and resilience from start to finish. Their effort, attitude and willingness to work for one another were clear throughout the match, and they should be proud of how they competed.

A special congratulations goes to Player of the Day, Pheobe. She delivered an outstanding performance, showing great composure and determination in every moment. Her work rate, positive attitude and impact on the game really stood out. Well done to everyone for their hard work and team spirit.

Playing on the 3G pitch to avoid the wet weather, Wildcats’ Under 12 girls were raring to go in their league fixture against Martock. Starting well the Wildcats dominated possession and soon started creating chances.

It wasn’t long before Sammie G made a great pass from defence for captain Hetty H to finish a 1v1 with the goalkeeper to put the Wildacts in front. The Wildcats kept up their domination in the first half but couldn’t manage to finish their chances.

The second half continued very much as the first but the Martock girls came back into the game and started to create opportunities. The Wildcats response was to push forward harder and a hard won corner taken by Millie G resulted in a bit of a pinball in the box that went in off a Martock defender. This spurred the Wildcats to put the game out of reach and a great through ball from Millie G put Hetty H in for her second goal of the game.

A good win for the girls and a solid performance played with a great attitude. POTM went to Hetty H but all the girls were in contention with a great all round performance.

Wildcats Under 15s made a slow start against Ilmisnter, allowing the opposition to dominate early and take a two-goal lead. After tactical changes, the momentum shifted. Frankie P delivered her best attacking performance yet on the left and scored her first Wildcats goal following a strong run and cross from Emilia S, giving the team a boost before half-time.

The second half saw Wildcats take control in midfield. Emilia S finished a well-worked move to equalise, and soon after Lola S fired in a superb effort to put Wildcats ahead. Ilminster responded, but Sophie W produced an outstanding double save from a 25-yard free kick.

A corner then brought Ilminster level again. Fresh energy from the bench caused problems, and Emilia S struck once more to restore the lead. Ilminster equalised yet again, setting up a tense finale. Hallie SH cut in from the left to score a composed winner, and determined defending in the closing minutes secured a thrilling 5–4 victory.

After tough narrow losses this season, it was fantastic to see resilience rewarded. Four different scorers highlighted a true team effort. Kacie W earned Player of the Match for her tireless display, with praise also for the defence and captain Jess B’s leadership.
