WELLINGTON Wildcats Under 12s made the short trip to Taunton for an early kick off against Huish Tigers.

The Wildcats started a little sleepy from the early start but soon settled and started to dominate possession.

With Huish struggling a bit this season this gave an opportunity to try players in new positions, but it was a familiar link up with Millie G crossing for Hetty H that led to the first goal.

The Wildcats extended their lead shortly after when Hayley C got her first Wildcats goal. The Wildcats dominance showed throughout the game with them scoring six more goals through Emilia S, Summer H, a Sara M hat-trick and an unfortunate own goal from a corner.

Huish didn’t give up at any point and got their justification by netting a goal of their own. The final score was 8-1 to the Wildcats with Sara M and debutant Evie B taking the player of the match awards.

Wildcats Under 14s played a friendly against Middlezoy. They put in a fantastic performance again. Solid at the back with Chloe P back in the team leading from the front. The balls that went behind the Wildcats defence Faith was there to mop up.

Attacking wise the Wildcats put in a great shift. Maisie leading the line for the first time did a good and stretched Middlezoy. Ruby was just everywhere. Wildcats couldn’t find that last ball to break free in the first half.

With it 0-0 at half time Wildcats changed formation to 4-4-2 and they were the better team. They were on the front foot most of the half. And making some very good runs into Middlezoy penalty. half chances fell to Ruby, Maisie and Alishia but the ball just wouldn’t sit right for them for a clean shot on goal. The game finished 0-0.

However, this was another strong performance from all of the team and it was good to keep a clean sheet. Next up is a quarter-final 1/4 cup game against Division One Midsomer Norton.

Wildcats’ Under 15s produced an outstanding team performance against league champions Bishops Lydeard in their final League Cup group game.

They started strongly, matching the opposition physicality, holding shape, and competing for every 50/50 ball.

Lydeard opened the scoring with a superb team goal, but the Wildcats responded well as Flo N, Emilia S and Lacey BG combined to create the equaliser. Lydeard countered with pace and stylish play to lead 2–1 at half-time.A

After regrouping and rotating subs, the Wildcats enjoyed their best spell, twice hitting the woodwork and dominating midfield through Kacie W, Isla C and Lily F, whose ball retention allowed wingers Flo G and Lacey BG to threaten.

Their teamwork helped Emilia S score twice more to complete a deserved hat-trick. Lydeard rallied late and found an equaliser to finish 3–3. Keeper Sophie W made key saves and distributed well, while Darcey B, Jess B, Immy M, Willow P and Hallie SH defended superbly. With all 13 players contributing, the whole team shared Player of the Match.

Meanwhile it’s cup action for Wildcats this coming weekend. Wildcats Under 12s play at home to Berrow Youth while the Under 13s are away to Berrow Lionesses. The Under 14s are away to Midsomer Norton while the Under 16s visit Isle of Wedmore.
