WELLINGTON Wildcats gained a 4-1 away victory over Swiss Valley in Division One of the Under 14 section in the Somerset Girls Football League.

Despite atrocious weather conditions, Wellington took the lead through Mary H, who finished well to put the Wildcats ahead. Swiss Valley managed to find an equaliser just before half-time, leaving the game finely balanced at the break.

The second half was a completely different story. Mary H added her second of the game before Bella W struck twice to complete a fantastic victory for the Wildcats.

Player of the match was Summer O for an outstanding display at centre-back, helping to keep Swiss Valley’s attack at bay and playing a huge part in the victory.

Playing their first match of the season, Wellington Wildcats Under 15s were held to a 3-3 home draw by Weston Mendip in Division Two.

Wellington took the lead with less than five minutes on the clock from a corner swung in by Hallie and converted by Iyla J who was making a step up from the U14s. Soon after, Wellington doubled their lead thanks to a close range shot from Casey P.

Weston Mendip did apply some pressure but great work from the defence and stand-in keeper Cheyenne C proving hard to beat. Wellington were still creating chances but couldn’t find that third before the break. With two minutes before the half finished Weston Mendip got themselves back in the game with a well worked goal.

The second half started much like the first with Wellington being the better team and they scored again from Flo N.

Weston Mendip pulled another goal back with ten minutes to go but Wellington were still in the driving seat and creating chances but unfortunately with the last kick of the game Weston Mendip scored an equaliser from a free kick.
