MOWERS came from behind to squeeze past WRFC by two pins in Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League’s Chris Bullock Championship on the downstairs alley of the Conservative Club.

Andy Thorne hit a solid 49 for the hosts, who enjoyed a three-pin advantage at half-way. Mowers saw Darren Winter step up with a great 53 to help his side over the line. Scores: WRFC 348, Mowers 350

Home Guard IV 378, Ex-Servicemen 390: The X-Men bounced back after a surprise loss to see off Home Guard IV by 12 pins on the upstairs alley of the Conservative Club. Will Smith’s 57 helped see the home side to a strong total. Adrian Coles’ excellent two-spare 61 helped X-Men to claim the points.

King Pins 375, United Services 370: King pins’ dream start to the season rolled on another week with a five-pin victory over United Services at the Football Club. Shane Powell returned to the King Pins side with 61 while United Services saw Dave Groves strike a brilliant 62 in response,

Foresters 394, All Stars 398: All Stars overcame a high scoring Foresters at the White Horse. Rob Morgan had hit 55 for Foresters, but Tony Winchester of All Stars was the star of the game with an exceptional 63.

Scuppas 346, Here 4 the Beer 360: Here 4 the Beer inflicted a second league loss on Scuppas whose top scorer was John Barker with 50 while Will Brewer knocked 54 for the visitors..

Nynehead Club 376, Outsiders 345: Nynehead Club saw off the challenge of Outsiders with Jim Compton the player of the match with a great 59. Martyn Sharland hit 48 in the Outsiders chase.

In the Gerald Thorne Championship, Relyon 368, Reservists 336: Relyon saw off the challenge of title rivals Reservists with a 32-pin victory at the Conservative Club. Mike Hutchings hit 50 for the Bedders while John Troake was top of the alley with 56 for the losers.

Club Rockers 314, Cottage Pies 353: Pies picked up a comfortable victory at the Institute. The home side found the alley difficult, but a solid 49 from Chris Hemming gave them a glimmer of hope. The Pies produced a much stronger team performance, with Jordan Perry again leading the way with an excellent 52.

Queens Legs 360, Holywell Lake 371: Holywell Lake got their season underway with a good 11-pin victory over Queens Legs on the upstairs alley of the Conservative Club. Queens Legs put together a respectable total, with Colin Francis producing a fine 54, but the Lakers edged ahead - thanks to Terry Dowson’s vital 52.

Rebels 344, OBA 341: Rebels secured a narrow three-pin victory over OBA who gave a good chase with Paul Beer top-scoring with a fine 51, but it was the hosts who took the game - thanks to a vital 50 by Chris Plant.

Fireguard A 364, Hot Shots 343: Fireguard A secured a convincing 21-pin victory over Hot Shots at the Football Club, with Lewis McAteer producing an excellent 59. Robin Marke knocked 48 for Hot Shots.

Bell Green 371, Home Guard II 345: Mark Wardell hit 62 for defending champions Bell Green while Macca Campbell scored 53 for Home Guard II. Oaks 353, Report Centre A 347: Jordan Haslehurst and Steven Burge shared the top score for Oaks with 48 apiece, while Will Bright was Report Centre A’s leading skittler with 52.
