WEATHER permitting, Wiveliscombe are expecting a big crowd for Boxing Day’s rugby derby at home to Wellington (2.15), writes Barry Knott.

With both teams in fine form this season - they have similar records in their respective divisions - it’s likely to be a close and exciting match.

“You must make Wivey slight favourites simply because they have home advantage,” said Wellington coach Allyn Chetland.

“But these matches are always close and we’re very confident. It will be a hard, physical game as it always is.

“I think Wivey have the advantage because they play on their pitch every other week and they know how to play it.

“But we’re looking forward to the challenge and having a beer with old friends after the match.”
