OLLIE Price will captain Wellington in Counties Western North this coming season.
He was elected at a players meeting and follows in the footsteps of his grandfather John and great uncle Rod. Matt Huggett will skipper the 2nd XV while Helen Perry will lead the Vixens.
Meanwhile, Wellington RFC have held their AGM with proceedings managed by president Matthew Colman who was delighted to welcome so many to the meeting.
Matthew presented the first financial report from new treasurer Jeremy Vallance. He was delighted that increased revenues and reduced costs had meant a healthy surplus. The club continues to invest into its facilities with new pitch drainage works complete, storeroom/kitchen updated and new BBQ area already a hit with members. He thanked everyone for their continued support..
Next on the agenda was the election of officers with Matthew Colman (president), Jeremy Vallance (treasurer) and Ashley Colman (secretary) re-elected with all other officers and committee members elected unanimously. Gareth Hodgson was elected post meeting as chairman.
Matthew read the highlights of secretary Ashley Colman’s report. He reported a particularly difficult season at senior level, but the future looked increasingly bright with a burgeoning colts and junior section a credit to the club.
Jeremy Vallance was thanked for his efforts as outgoing M&J chairman. Debbie Gill will take over the reins with her usual enthusiasm and vigour!
The Vixens continue to be a breath of fresh air and their presence has had a real positive on the atmosphere at the club, bringing a sense of fun to everything they do. Hugh Barrett and Dom Byrne are stepping down with mother and daughter team of Jan and Taylor Wetherall taking up their positions.
The president closed proceeding by asking for everyone's continued support, wishing everyone a healthy and happy summer and looked forward to welcoming all in the new season.
