WELLINGTON will be looking to bounce back after their disappointing loss to Yeovil when they play away to Bridgwater 2nd XI in the Somerset Division of the West of England Premier Cricket League on Saturday, August 8.

Wellington, who have lost only three games this season, have slipped to third in the table but are still only 25 points behind the leaders Ilminster.

And the situation could change very much the following weekend when Ilminster are set to meet second-placed Yeovil.

With only four matches left, Wellington will almost certainly have to win at least three of them if they are going to be promoted.

They will also be hoping that all-rounder Luke Desave, who pulled a hamstring in the pre-match warm-up against Yeovil last weekend, will be fit to play. Desave is a key player in the side.

Fixtures for August 8: Bridgwater 2nd XI v Wellington, Chard v Taunton, Frome v Wembdon, North Perrott v Ilminster, Yeovil v Temple Cloud.

Wellington’s remaining games are home v Frome (8th), away v Wembdon (5th), and home v Chard (7th).

Wellington 2nd XI, 33 points adrift at the bottom of Division One in the Somerset League, have a must-win game at home to Winscombe who are lying seventh (1p.m.).

Wellington have won only two matches this season and are involved in a relegation fight along with Cranmore and West Monkton.

Wellington 3rd XI, who still have an outside chance of promotion in Division Seven South, play at home to eighth-placed Huntspill & District at Sampford Arundel (1.30p.m.).
