THE organisers are expecting a big crowd for their charity rugby match for CoppaFeel! between Wellington Vixens and Yeovil Women at the Athletic Ground on Saturday, August 15 (kick-off 2.30p.m.).

Dozens of raffle prizes have been donated for the event which will be the first rugby match to be staged on the ground since last season.

CoppaFeel! is a breast cancer awareness charity based in London focused on promoting early detection of breast cancer by encouraging young people to regularly check their chests.

Vixens, who have named Taylor Wetherall as new head coach and Jan Wetherall as team manager for the new season, played some great rugby last season in Women’s National Challenge 3 South West, eventually finishing third in the table.

They improved throughout the winter and finished the season by beating second-placed Withycombe 29-10 at the Athletic Ground. It was an impressive achievement, particularly as Withycombe are such a strong side, and the Vixens are expecting an even better season which is approaching quickly.

Meanwhile, Wellington’s senior men’s side are preparing for life in Counties Western North following relegation from Regional Two South West.

They begin the season with a home game against Dings Crusaders IIs on Saturday, September 12, and follow this with a fixture at Cinderford on Saturday, September 19.
