WELLINGTON expect to be at near full-strength for their derby match away to Honiton in Western Counties West on Saturday, writes Barry Knott.

The only real doubt is prop Ryan Marke who missed the 51-20 home win over Kingsbridge with a shoulder injury.

“We will have to wait to see how he goes in training,” said Wellington coach Allyn Chetland.

“The lads played very well against Kingsbridge and they can’t wait to play Honiton. The Devon side will be keen to show how they have improved since promotion.”

Wellington, in third spot, are four points adrift of 100 per cent leaders St Austell and second-placed Bideford.

Honiton have won two and lost two of their opening four matches and will be looking to bounce back after their 36-0 away defeat by Wadebridge Camels.

Wiveliscombe are another side looking to regain winning form. They lost 27-8 at home to leaders St Austell and play away to Cullompton, who are also struggling to hit their best form.

Wiveliscombe coach Peter Stone admitted: “Although we’ve still got players out, we’re not good enough or fit enough at the moment. Other teams have been better than us.”

He also revealed that second row Ross Pearson is the latest player to join the casualty list, having limped off with an ankle injury against St Austell. Former skipper John Ker is also still out with concussion.

Wellington 2nd XV, who were unlucky 14-13 losers away to Bridgwater & Albion in Somerset One last Friday, are home to their Keynsham counterparts on Saturday while Wiveliscombe 2nd XV are home to Yeovil 2nd XV.
