WELLINGTON face a must-win away game against Chard in Western Counties West this coming Saturday, writes Barry Knott.

Graham Dawe’s boys beat Bideford 53-26 at home over the weekend to maintain their fight for the title and promotion.

They are lying third, three points behind leaders Sidmouth and only one behind second-placed Crediton.

“We can only go out there and do our best and hope one of the top two slip up,” said coach Allyn Chetland.

“Although Chard are near the bottom of the table, they don’t lose many home games. In fact, they have won their last five matches at Essex Close.”

Sidmouth face a trip to Saltash, who are tenth in the table, while Crediton are home to sixth-placed Wadebridge Camels.

Wellington expect to field a full-strength side at Chard with second-row Danny Lee, ‘rested’ over the weekend, and full-back or centre George Hodgson (ill) back in contention.

“We can only choose 18 so selection is going to be a problem - but a nice problem,” added Chetland. “We will just have to go out there all guns blazing.

“It’s also a local derby so that will make it interesting.”
