WELLINGTON slumped to their ninth defeat of the season in Regional Two South West when they went down 52-10 at home to Winscombe at the Athletic Ground.

On a miserable and wet afternoon, Wellington made a flying start with Billy Brooks snapping up a try after only six minutes to put the home side 5-0 up.

However, Winscombe were back on level terms with a try of their own after 14 minutes and took the lead for the first time on 30 minutes when they scored a converted try.

Winscombe added to their score with another converted try to lead 19-5 at the interval.

Wellington hit back early in the second half with a try by Jason Rowland after Winscombe had been reduced to 13 men.

However, the visitors responded with another converted try to go 26-10 up before turning the screw, scoring four more tries, three of which were converted, to finish comfortable winners.
