WELLINGTON RFC will look to continue their pursuit of championship glory in the Tribute Western Counties West division when Bideford are the visitors to town.

The Wellington 1st XV currently sit joint top with Kingsbridge, but know that points in their December fixtures could put them into pole position.

But it will not be a stroll in the park for Wellington in the 2.30pm kick-off on Saturday (December 14) as Bideford are fourth and just seven points behind.

A tough afternoon could well be in store for Wellington, but they will go into the fixture full of confidence following last weekend’s 29pts-8 victory at local neighbours Wiveliscombe (turn to page 30 for match report).

Wellington will return to Wiveliscombe on Boxing Day (December 26) for the annual festive friendly fixture.

Wellington’s final league game of 2019 comes on December 21 when they travel to face mid-table Cullompton.

They start the New Year on January 4 with a home match against Falmouth.

But although there is a lot of rugby to be played between now and the end of the 2019-20 season, the final destination of where the championship trophy goes might be determined by the outcome of when Wellington travel to face rivals St Austell, who are third in the table, on February 15.

WELLINGTON 2nds make the trip to Crewkerne on Saturday (December 14) in the Tribute Somerset One division, while they are at home to Cheddar Valley on December 21.
