WELLINGTON lst XV’s away match against Penzance & Newlyn in Regional Two South West on Saturday, January 10, was called off because of the bad weather.
The Cornish side informed Wellington that the ground was unplayable on Friday, in plenty of time to prevent the visitors from making a fruitless trip.
It was one of two matches postponed in the division because of the weather, the other being Tiverton’s home match against North Petherton.
Meanwhile, Weston super Mare maintained their 100 per cent record in the division when they beat Teignmouth 69-12 at home. It was their 14th win of the season and enabled them to go 24 points clear of second-placed Tiverton at the top of the table.
Okehampton missed a chance of going second after they suffered a 26-21 home defeat against Ivybridge.
In other games in the division, Crediton gained a 45-35 home victory over Winscombe while Cullompton went down 46-29 at home to Wadebridge Camels.
