MOWERS took another step towards winning Wellington Ex-Services Skittles League's Chris Bullock Championship with a resounding 60-pin win over Odds and Ends at the Football Club.

D. Winter was top scorer for the defending champions with 53 pins as he helped Mowers reach a challenging total. Odds and Ends saw their skipper N. Timewell hit 45 in their reply. Mowers 358, Odds and Ends 298.

Mark Bright reports: Scuppas 387, Ex-Servicemen 376: Scuppas picked up a vital win to keep their slim hopes of lifting the league championship alive, seeing off the challenge of Ex-Servicemen by 11 pins. R. Howe helped set the tone for Scuppas with 59, helping to take his side to a very good score at the Cottage. M. Reeves scored 58 for the X-Men in response.

WRFC 360, King Pins 338: Rugby Club ended the winning run of King Pins with a 22 pin victory at the Conservative Club, with Rugby Club skipper J. Lane taking the plaudits hnjwith a stunning 75. T. Bryant managed to hit 49 for the Pins.

Home Guard IV 376, Outsiders 404: Outsiders got back to winning ways with a 28 pin away to Home Guard IV in the upstairs/downstairs derby at the Conservative Club. G. White hit a solid 61 for HGIV, the home side setting a very decent score. Outsiders are well known for their ability to pull out big scores, and they showed this again with R. Larcombe’s 66 helping them past the 400 mark.

All Stars 384, Moonrakers 394: J. Milton hit 67 for All Stars to see the hosts post a solid score on the downstairs alley. Moonrakers have been on a great run in recent weeks and they rolled that on for another week as they went big, just falling short of 400 to take the points.

Foresters 320, United Services 334: United Services picked up a 14 pin win as they got their first look at the Nynehead Club alley against Foresters. G. Browne, as he is so often, was the top scorer for Foresters with 58. A. Howe hit 48 for United Services as they got over the line and took the points.

Holywell Lake 398, Club Rockers 373: Holywell Lake won by 25 as they hosted Club Rockers at the Victoria Arms. S. Newberry hit a well deserved 65 for the Lakers to see them to another vital win in the race for the league championship, the Lakers just falling shy of the 400 mark. C. Hyland hit 54 for Club Rockers in reply.

Reservists 365, Shooters 304: Reservists picked up another vital win to keep the pressure on Holywell Lake, this time seeing off Shooters by a comprehensive 61 pins at the Institute. K. Sedgebeer hit 54 for Reservists to see them to a solid score. K. Harcombe scored 49 for Shooters in reply.

Home Guard II 319, OBA 341: Home Guard II went down to OBA by 22 at the Football Club. C. Winter played well for HGII with 50 pins falling for him. J. Vincent scored 54 for OBA in reply as he helped the away side get over the line.

Bell Green 358, Fireguard A 352: Bell Green came out winners against Fireguard A at the Victoria Arms, with T. Dunbar’s vital 50 helping the hosts win by six. Will L was the player of the match with 52 in the Fireguard A hands.

Queens Legs 394, Hot Shots 361: Queens Legs won the upstairs/downstairs derby at the Conservative Club with a 33 pin victory over Hot Shots. S. Mason scored a terrific 62 for Queens Legs as he helped them set a formidable total. R. Chivers was the player of the match with a fantastic 66 for Hot Shots.

Rebels 390, Report Centre A 290: Rebels won with a 100 pin margin as they put RCA to the sword at the Cottage Inn. J. Sellick hit 58 for Rebels who set a very strong score on the Cottage alley. M Hobbs knocked 49 for the losers.

Relyon 330, Oaks 351: Oaks saw off the challenge of Relyon with a 21 pin victory at the Conservative Club, S. Molloy the player of the match with 51 for Oaks. G. Mold hit 49 for the Bedders.
