WELLINGTON Tennis Club's Men's team has won all four of their matches and are now top of the Division Two Men’s table in the West Somerset Tennis League.

With just four matches remaining, they are well place to clinch silverware.

To date they have defeated Minehead A, Wiveliscombe A and Trull D 10-0 and only dropped 2 points against Trull.C.

Meanwhile, Wellington B tied against Wiveliscombe A - both teams winning two rubbers apiece and also winning 38 games each.

Wellington B team is currently in third place after five matches.

The A team is also in third place of Division 1 above Taunton A and Trull B.

With four more matches to play, Wellington A has to have a strong finish to ensure they stay above those teams .

With Minehead A withdrawing as they couldn't field a team, one other team will be relegated at the end of the season.

Meanwhile, the club is now looking for sponsors for the club to cope with imcreading costs.

Chairman, Sue Rackley said: "We have liaised with Carly Press to make some boards to hang on court three.

“We have good footfall as we have many members and public bookers.

“Lots of dog walkers pass by as well as football matches and cricket matches occur next to the courts.

“If any local businesses would be interested in having a board for one year, please contact the club on [email protected]."

She added: “We spend an average of £4,500 per annum to maintain the courts and of course our ground rent is currently £5,300 per annum. Even a tube of balls now cost nearly double what they used to."
