WELLINGTON 2nd XI were well beaten by Broadway & Horton in their final home game in Division One of the Somerset Cricket League, writes David Derrick.

A nine wicket defeat was meted out by the fourth placed side and so relegation after one season at this level was confirmed.

Having been put into bat Wellington's second string started well as Aks Latifi, who has had a great season despite the team's tribulations, and Thom Trott added 39 opening wicket runs with Latifi making 25 in 33 balls with six fours.

However, when they were both dismissed on this score it was a procession to 70-9 as B and H sliced through a callow line up as Bulley with 3-9 starred with the ball as a tidy effort was on offer by the visitors.

Jake Nichol with 15 not out added some late aggression with two fours and a six in 14 balls, but his was the only other double figure score along with Latifi's.

Dubury, Lowman and Jeans won the game for B and H in 11.1 overs with Archie Evans as the successful Wellington bowler.

It was Wellington’s 12th loss of the season and they find themselves 104points behind the next placed side West Monkton who are in a relegation fight along with fellow strugglers Cranmore, with only four points separating the two teams.

The season for Wellington ends at Wells and Horrington on Saturday, 29th August, in a game that begins at 1 p.m. Wells are lying fifth in the table but are 120 points behind the leaders Long Sutton who entertain Cranmore.
