PLAYER-MANAGER Mark Owen brought himself back after an absence of three months as Wellington Reserves beat Dawlish United 2-0 in the first division of the Devon and Exeter League at the Playing Field.

However, despite having most of the play up the slope in the first half, Wellington could not open their account. The second half started with no chances made to the line up and again Wellington had all the possession but could not create any real chances.

After 55 minutes Wellington decided to make the first change of the game, bringing on Luke Perry replacing Dom Healy and it was an instant impact. After a fine move Poulsom collected the ball and drove a low cross into the 6 yard box. Perry controlled the ball and hit a low shot past the keeper to give the home side a deserved lead.

With Dawlish creating very little it was really when would Wellington increase their lead and after 70mins the second came along when skipped past two defenders as he ran across the box and then hit a shot from 15 yards past the keeper.

Victory enabled Wellington to move up to joint top - but they have played more games than teams around them. MOTM - Alfie Barratt.
