A FORMER goalkeeper with Wellington, Jake Viney, who has re-signed for the Toolstation League club, goes straight into the side for tomorrow’s (Sat) Premier Division clash with fellow strugglers Oldland Abbotonians at the Playing Field (3p.m.).
He is joined in tomorrow's team by another new signing, central defender Kieran Bailey, on a dual registration from Southern League Westbury United.
Viney takes over in goal from Shay Allen who has joined Premier Division rivals Nailsea and Tickenham.
Meanwhile, Wellington have the chance to improve their position in the Premier Division when they play two matches in the next four days.
Their best chance of collecting three points will be tomorrow when they play at home to Abbotonians. Wellington are lying second from bottom, while Abbotonians are only one place above them with an extra point.
Although only one side goes down at the end of the season, there is still pressure on both sides to move away from the bottom. Wellington will have had 14 days to get over their 5-1 loss at home to Nailsea & Tickenham while Abbotonians lost 4-2 away to St Blazey last time out.
Wellington will be back in action this coming Tuesday when they play away to Street in a rearranged game. Street are tenth in the table and beat Welton Rovers at home last Saturday.
Wellington Reserves, 1-0 winners at home to Newton St Cares last weekend, are away to Lympstone in the first division of the Devon & Exeter League tomorrow. Wellington are fourth, but have played more games than other sides around them, and Lympstone eighth. Hemyock, struggling near the foot of Division Three, are home to Alphington Reserves (2.00).
Wellington A, top of the first division in the Taunton Saturday League, are home to neighbours Norton Fitzwarren at The Rec (2.00) while Wellington Reds are home to Worle Rangers Reserves in the Somerset Intermediate Cup.
On Sunday, Wellington side Moortown play at home to Williton Sunday who are bottom of Division One of the Somerset Sunday League and have yet to collect a point (10.45).
Wellington Wildcats are home again on Sunday when they entertain Nailsea United in Division One of the Somerset Women’s League while Wellington Ladies are away to Porlock in Division Two South with only one point separating the sides.
There is plenty of action in the Taunton Youth and Somerset Girls Leagues.
