WELLINGTON welcome the break from football in the Toolstation League this weekend - particularly after picking up another injury in the mid-week 4-0 defeat away to Nailsea & Tickenham in the Toolstation League.
Goakeeper Shay Allen suffered a foot injury attempting to prevent Nailsea taking the lead late in the first half - action which also cost him a straight red card.
"Fortunately, the foot is only seriously bruised, not broken," said assistant player-manager Jack Porter. "It could have been much worse but we still expect him to be out for some time"
Wellington also have other players on the sidelines through injury, including new skipper Ryan Brereton, who has a fractured ankle, which he sustained at Helston, while Kieran Ireland has a broken leg which he picked up against Bideford in the FA Cup.
Wellington now have a ten-day break before they play away to Okehampton in the first qualifying round of the FA Vase next Saturday.
"It'll give the lads a chance to recoup" added Porter. "We were beginning to look tired and mentally drained during the later part of the game at Nailsea. It is not easy when you're down to ten men.
"I thought we did very well to keep it goalless for an hour. I think with 11 men we could have got something out of the game."
Allen also faces at least a one-match ban for being sent off at Nailsea which means he will miss the tie at Okehampton. Rhys Williams, who played in goal in three pre-season friendlies, will come into the side to replace him."
