THOUSANDS of homes and businesses in and around Wellington were left without power for a short time on Monday morning (September 22).
Electricity supplies were reported to have been cut off at 8.44 am, with National Grid saying it was prioritising the issue to restore the connection.
Initially, 2,422 properties were affected in the north and east of Wellington and also on the Chelston, Westpark, and Foxmoor business parks, and stretching to Nynehead and Ham.
National Grid said the problem was a fault on high voltage power lines in the area.
Power was restored to nearly 1,300 properties within three minutes, and the remainder in 20 minutes.
The outage follows a series of four major power cuts across the town and surrounding areas in June.
