A SECOND group of volunteers have received First Aid certificates after completing training as part of their role in responding to emergencies in the village of Oake, near Wellington.

The community emergency response team (CERT) volunteers will be among the first to respond in the event of a fire, flood, severe weather, or other crisis in the village.

Members also collected their emergency response kit bags which have been funded with a grant from Somerset Prepared.

The training evening in the parish hall also featured an informative presentation by Somerset Rivers Authority community engagement officer Bel Deering, who is a member of Somerset Prepared.

Parish council vice-chairman Cllr Chris Hillier was thanked for leading the preparation of Oake’s emergency plan and arranging the training and equipment.
