NOTHING says summer is on its way than the appearance of colourful hanging baskets.

Wellington Town Council’s open spaces team was busy before the bank holiday making the town summer ready with an abundance of blooms.

The plants are sourced from Riverside Plant Nurseries in Williton as this is the closest commercial grower and baskets organised for the 17 columns throughout the town centre with each featuring two or three baskets.

Petunias are the go-to flower for the Wellington hanging baskets as they develop a beautiful trailing effect as they grow, making them a popular choice for hanging baskets.

This year’s colours of purple, white and red were chosen by the 2025/26 mayor Cllr Janet Lloyd.
