ROCKWELL Green’s shortmat bowlers travelled to Staplegrove for a rearranged friendly, eventually winning 62-44 - after their last match was abandoned due to the hot weather!

On Mat 1 (Green names first ) Graham, Mick B & Bill played Peter, Rita & Edwin. The Green trio held sway over the first 6 ends but the hosts fought back to level and were leading on the ninth 6-5 but a 2 on the last gave the Green a 7--6 win.

Mat 2 saw Dave D, Cass & John Y against John, Pat & Rose. The hosts took an early 5-1 lead but the Green took the remaining 7 ends to finish 15--5 winners.

On Mat 3Syd, Reg & Mike R found life hard against John L, Sue L & Heather and failed to get on the scoreboard until the 6th end by which time they were 7 shots down. They started to fight back but eventually lost 12--7.

The restart saw Graham , Mick B & Bill matched with David, Sue L, & John B. Although the Green trio took 4 shots on the first end the teams were level after 5 ends. From then on shots were exchanged with the Green 8--6 up with 1 to play but the Staplegrove trio gained 2 shots, to draw the game.

Mat 5 , Dave D, Cass & John Y played against John, Rita & Pat, The Staplegrove trio did not trouble the scoreboard until the 6th end by which time the Green were 10 shots ahead and they went on to win 15-3.ahead. The home trio did get a 3 on end 6 but that was as good as it got for them as the Green trio won the remaining 4 ends giving the Green a flattering 15--3 win.

On Mat 6 Syd, Reg & Mike R played John L, Heather & Edwin in an absorbing game which ended in a tie at 10 all.
