THE weather turned out well for Wellington Bowling Club’s singles and pairs competition semi-finals. It was nice to see some socially distanced spectators encouraging the players.

In the singles competition Tony Gibson took on Ian Hollingsworth and the score, after ten ends, was eight shots all. Then Tony started to pull away and the match ended with Tony taking it 22-11 after 18 ends. He will now meet Nick Channon who beat Gerry Mangeolles 24-11 in the other side of the draw.

In the pairs competition a close match was held between Christine Willcocks and Alan Avery and Debbie and John Lane. The Lanes started off well and were 8-4 up after eight ends. Christine and Alan then pulled it back to eight all at 11 ends. The final end saw Christine and Alan take one shot to win the match 9-8.

They will play Shirley Samuels and Bill Warnett who defeated Rob and Sheryl Higgs 11-6.
