WELLINGTON Bowling Club’s A, B and C teams each had varying degrees of success as all were in action over the past week.
Wellington’s A team did well and beat North Petherton B with shots to spare, the B team had a terrific battle and drew with Bridgwater's Eastover B while Wellington C came close but lost their fixture against Taunton Deane B 44 – 38.
Wellington A were away against North Petherton .
Darren Sparks, Gill Groves and Nick Channon did not get off to a good start and although they came back later they lost 16 – 12.
Mike Copping, Jay Merrell and Mike Groves were the heroes for Wellington. They collected an excellent 31 shots to the unfortunate North Petherton's nine.
Julian Street, Paul Kelly and Graham Brown had a good game and although the opposition picked up the pace, the Wellington trio won 17 – 12, giving Wellington a a comfortable overall victory by 60 shots to 37.
Wellington's B team did not fair quite as well at home against Bridgwater Eastover B.
Wendy Scott, Roger Murphy and Bill Warnett came up against very strong opposition and lost on their rink, 25 – 6.
Mark Bond, Peter White and David Beaudet did a lot better. They bowled consistently and ended up with a really good win by 24 shots to 8.
Steve Lovell, Ed Dilley and Ian Hollingsworth had a good old battle against a strong Bridgwater trio but the Wellington three held on to win it by three shots, 16 – 13.
Both sides played well and deserved an overall 46 – 46 draw.
Tracey Richbell, Alan Samuel and Ken Brown had a good game for the C team, winning 13 – 11 but the other two Wellington sides lost, 12 – 13 and 20 – 13, meaning that Taunton Deane B won overall, 44 – 38.
