DIVISION One leaders Kilve picked up another victory in their bid for the title as they won at Over Stowey by five wickets.
K Barrow made 40 as the hosts were dismissed for just 103 before J Taylor (38no) and T Wilcox (30) kept their nerve in the chase.
Watchet are 17 points behind after seeing off Bridgetown by five wickets. Bridgetown knocked up 166-9 from 40 overs, which included opener Kenny Cross’ 78 as Ben Robinson took 3-32. Number three Hugh Ogle made 84 not out in reply.
Winsford CC are 95 points adrift of safety despite coming within a whisker of winning at Bagborough.Henry Dunn (49) and Toby Lochead (45) were the main run-getters in Winsford’s 173 all out as David Stirkazer (3-34) and Blake Jones (3-43) shared six wickets.
Bagborough were cruising at 123-3 with Jones (46) and Craig Swinburne (49) at the crease before Dan Bowley (2-53) and Lochead (4-17 off 6) went to work.
However, last man David Stirkazer struck a four to secure a thrilling victory.Second from last Brompton Ralph were dismissed for just 40 at East Huntspill who needed an unbeaten stand of 55 between the Glews – Charlie (17no) and Louie (37no) – in their 207-8.
Louie Glew then completed a fine all-round afternoon with 4-15, but it was man-of-the-match Ollie Watt that went one better with 5-23 as the chase lasted just 67 balls. Watt had earlier made 70.
Ashbrittle stay fourth after a 39-run success at Morebath. Sixties from Mark White (62) and Sam Shaikh (61) helped the visitors post 240-7 despite Irindu Gallage’s 4-65. Morebath were dismissed for 201 with 21 balls to spare.
After Luke Williams took 3-27, Daniel Coles (58) and Carl Hooper (36) rebuilt, and although Joe Weeks struck a 31-ball 50, Shaikh ran through the tail for figures of 5-43.
In Division Two, leaders Crowcombe avoided a shock at bottom side Stoke St Mary.Stoke were dismissed for just 142 despite a brilliant 99 from opener D Batchelor as all six Crowcombe bowlers were in the wickets, led by J Khattak’s 2-19 and 2-47 from R White.
G Robertson (44) and R Baker (27) took Crowcombe to 67-2, but I Tier (2-28) and O Squire (2-42) reduced them to 116-6 before White’s quickfire 18 not out ensured no mistake.Stogumber (200) were thrashed by 165 runs at Churchinford who leapfrogged them up to third bottom.
Number three James Yeabsley (112no – 17 fours, three sixes) hit a century in their 263-4 after skipper Chris Roberts (28) and Andrew Layard (45) laid the platform.
The chase lasted just 19.1 overs despite Peter Horton’s 49 not out.Opening bowlers Kalann Nessling (2-16) and Lee Nessling (3-9) shared five wickets before Lily Blackwell (5-26) took the rest.
Roadwater were edged out by one wicket by visiting Sampford Arundel.The home innings saw M Bolton and R Cornish put on 103 for the third wicket before the innings stuttered to 172 all out in 30.4 overs as O Buckingham took 4-44.
Z Watson (3-43) helped reduce the visitors to 37-3, but after starts from O Buckingham (19) and W Crossley (31), it was T Jenkins’ brutal 36 from just 17 balls proved decisive.
Further wickets fell, however, the last two batters – C Crossley and K Crockett – made eight apiece to secure victory.
