LOOKING through Wellington Cricket Club’s photo archives, David Derrick has found a picture of their Sunday XI which played at Weymouth on Sunday, 7th August, 2005.
This was the day on which England beat Australia at Edgbaston, Birmingham by two runs in the 2005 Ashes to level the series at 1-1 and Weymouth included Kenyan international Collins Obuya, who had played in the 2003 World Cup, in their side as he was the Dorset club's overseas player that season.
Wellington's line up was John Paine, Rob Moysey, Thom Trott, Richard Das Neves (WCC Overseas Player 2005 from South Africa), Adrian Lee, George Coate, Andy Perry, Sam Cook, David Derrick (capt), Marc Holloway and Kevin Crout.
Of the players on duty from this game twenty-one years ago, Rob Moysey, George Coate, David Derrick and Marc Holloway still play for the Red and Blacks.
