HEMYOCK 12 SILVERTON 0

THERE was so much goalmouth action in this game in Division Six of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday.

Hemyock controlled the game throughout and in truth the 12 goals scored could have been 20. Silverton, by their own admission, were poor and struggling with injuries in their squad but that’s not to take away from the way that Hemyock played as they created chance upon chance.

Ash Saunders led the way with the Hemyock goals, helping himself to six and taking his season’s tally to 19. Also on the scoresheet were Alex Vickery with 2, Callum Shenton with 2, Joe Hurley and unlucky own goal.

To give Silverton the credit they are due, despite being on the end of an awful result, they never gave up and did actually have the ball in the back of the net late on. It would have been the best goal of the game with a rasping left foot volley from 25 yards. Unfortunately the player was ruled offside.

This weekend Hemyock are in Devon Intermediate Cup action at home to Lakeside Athletic Reserves from the Plymouth league.
