WELLINGTON’S football manager Clive Jones reckons it will be another week before he can choose from a full strength side.

Wellington fielded a ‘patched up’ team in Saturday’s FA Cup draw at Cribbs which was being replayed last night (Aug 13) - also away because they cannot play home games until next month.

Skipper Glen Wright and Ian Bellinger, two of Wellington’s best players, are unavailable for the tough away match against Buckland Athletic in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League this coming Saturday.

“At the moment the side is picking itself,” said Jones. “If we can get the next week over with than the squad should be stronger,” added Jones who was ‘pleased’ with Saturday’s display at Cribbs who were unlucky not to beat Bridgwater Town in the league in midweek. I know that Bridgwater are paying out money so that was a good result for Cribbs.”

Wellington also have a game at Street in the league next Tuesday, but Wellington Reserves are not in action until they play Bow Athletic in Division One of the Devon and Exeter League on Saturday, August 24.

“We haven’t had any friendlies recently because the lads have been wanted by the first and A sides,” said the Reserves’ joint manager Paul Pollock. “The main thing is they are getting game time.”
