MANAGERLESS Wellington, who have leaked 19 goals in their last two matches, are looking to appoint a head or player-coach.

The club says: “We are currently looking at our management setup at first team level and have decided to advertise for a head coach or player-coach to help develop our players.

“Saturday (at Ilminster in the FA Vase) will be a different challenge and will give us a better understanding of where we are. Ilminster have got some decent players and it’s likely to be a good test ahead of a very difficult league game at Portishead on Tuesday night. “

Chairman Mike Hall is currently in charge of team affairs with Wellington who lost 9-0 away to Willand Rovers in an FA Cup tie last Saturday and 10-1 away to Buckland Athletic in the Premier Division of the Jewson Western League the previous Wednesday.

Ilminster Town, who won the Premier Division in the Uhlsport Somerset County League in the 2024-25 season, now play in Premier Division East of the South West Peninsula League.

They have won their opening two league matches, both at home - 7-0 against Middlezoy Rovers and 1-0 against Honiton Town - and share top spot with three other teams.

Wellington, on the other hand, have lost all four of their league games and are bottom of the table, having a minus 17-goal difference.

They cannot play home matches at present because they share their ground with the local cricket club.
