PLAYER of the match Matt Brereton came off the substitutes’ bench to hit a hat-trick for Wellington A who beat Galmington Reserves 5-1 at The Castle School in Division One of the Centregreat Taunton & District Saturday Football League.

The Tangerines, who made it back to back wins, got off to a lively start, with Kurtis Robbins going close in the opening few minutes before missing another big chance midway through the first half.

Despite not playing at their best in the opening 45 minutes, Wellington remained organised and resolute, refusing to let Galmington Reserves break them down.

Goalkeeper Chris McKee was dominant in his box, while defenders Tom Barnard and Nigel Letten were strong and well organised in front of him. The two sides went into half-time level at 0–0.

Wellington made a change at the break, bringing on Brereton, who would go on to make a huge impact on the game. They were given a great opportunity when Bradley Holmans was held in the box, leaving the referee with no choice but to point to the spot. Tom Scarlett stepped up and calmly slotted the penalty home to give Wellington the lead.

With the game opening up, Brereton then produced two excellent finishes in quick succession to put Wellington firmly in control.

Galmington managed to pull one back to make it 3–1, but there was no way back for the home side.

Brereton completed his hat-trick with another goal to make it 4–1, before Jordan Sellick showed some fantastic feet in the box, dancing his way around the Galmington defence before finding the net to make it 5–1.

A brilliant second-half display from Wellington A saw them run out comfortable winners and chalk up their third victory in five league games .
